SSC (General Duty)

The SSC GD (Staff Selection Commission General Duty) is an essential examination for those aspiring to serve in various paramilitary forces such as the BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, and SSB. This exam tests candidates on various parameters to ensure they are fit for the demanding responsibilities of a General Duty position in these forces. SSC GD Exam Syllabus

The syllabus for the SSC GD exam is designed to assess the candidate's basic skills and knowledge necessary for a role in security forces:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning:

    • Analogies, Similarities and differences, Spatial visualization, Spatial orientation, Visual memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship concepts, Arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, Arithmetic number series, Non-verbal series, Coding and decoding, etc.

  • General Knowledge and General Awareness:

    • Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research, current events of national and international importance.

  • Elementary Mathematics:

    • Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions, Relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportions, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work.

  • English/Hindi:

    • Candidates’ ability to understand Basic English/Hindi and his basic comprehension would be tested.

 

Eligibility Criteria for SSC GD

To ensure that all candidates meet the fundamental requirements necessary for duties in the security forces, the following eligibility criteria are set:

  • Nationality:

    • Must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan.

    • Tibetan refugees who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intent to permanently settle in India, or people of Indian origin who have migrated from various countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  • Age Limit:

    • Typically, candidates should be between 18 to 23 years of age. However, relaxations apply as per government norms for various categories.

  • Educational Qualification:

    • The candidate must have passed 10th class or equivalent from a recognized board.
